Carfin 13th May 2023

The warmth of the beautiful evening with the excited energy of the people buzzing around the grounds added to the atmosphere of the pilgrimage on 13th May. On entering the church which was almost full, this we have not experienced since before covid, was breath talking. The enthusiasm and participation of the congregation was tangible as Fr. Chido was expressing the importance of praying the rosary for peace in our world, and an increase of Faith for the world.

Crib in Castlemilk

When the legionaries from St Margaret Mary’s, set up the crib outside “Farmfoods” , at Croftfoot rounadabout, on 17th December, the wet pavements had frozen over making them a skating rink. Shops around did not have many customers, these conditions seemed to support the idea that no one would be interested, the reality was not so.

The presence of the crib gave an opportunity for people to reflect on its meaning in their lives, some shared what was going on in their spiritual lives, with coments like:
“I have been thinking about coming back to Mass”

“I am searching to know if Jesus really lived, I want to talk about it”

“My mother died recently”   The delight of the person who on receiving a miraculous medal, immediately put it on, recalling experience of being told about it at school, his mother had recently died and as he left he seemed a little happier.

“Thank you so much for these” (the person was given a prayer for peace and information about mass times)

“I will try asking Jesus to let me know if he is real”

Responses like these exemplify the joy of bringing the crib to the public

Crib in complex centre

St Margaret Mary’s legionaries have been visiting the homes in a complex for independent living. On the feast of the Holy Innocents they set up the crib in the gathering centre there and invited residents to gather to pray for peace with a decade of the rosary and carols.
